What is covered
Two things, in plain English.
Colour and finish
Resistance to flaking, peeling, and excessive fading of the painted surface.
Not covered: damage from impact, walking on unsuitable profiles, or unapproved alterations.
Corrosion
No perforation through the sheet from normal weather exposure.
Not covered: corrosion caused by contact with incompatible metals or chemicals.
How long it lasts

The exact length of your warranty is confirmed by Silbery after a site assessment. For roofing, the final issued warranty is never less than 15 years.
Understanding your site
Which environment category applies?
Mild and Moderate
Light salt deposits, occasional smell of salt.
Typically 500 m to 5 km from breaking surf on the east coast, or further on the west and south.
Severe
A frequent smell of salt in the air.
Typically 100 m to 500 m from breaking surf on the east coast, or 500 m on the west and south.
Also applies close to calm water such as harbour foreshores, and can extend inland a kilometre or more.
Very Severe
An almost constant smell of salt, close to breaking surf.
Typically within 50 m of high water on the east coast, or 100 m on the west and south.
Includes offshore islands.
Keeping your warranty active
Regular washing, simple rules.
Mild, Moderate
Roof: natural rain-washing.
Wall cladding: rain plus a manual wash every year.
Unwashed or high-risk areas: every 6 months.
Severe
Roof: natural rain-washing.
Wall cladding: rain plus a wash every 6 months.
Unwashed or high-risk areas: every 3 months.
Very Severe
Roof: natural rain-washing.
Wall cladding: rain plus a wash every 3 months.
Unwashed or high-risk areas: every month.
Wash with water and a sponge or soft nylon brush. If you use a water-blaster, keep the pressure at or below 20 MPa. Inspect gutters regularly to remove debris that can cause ponding.
What voids the warranty
Five things to avoid.
- Unapproved alterations to the installation.
- Damage caused by other trades, impact, or foot traffic on unsuitable profiles.
- Failure to carry out the maintenance schedule above.
- Contact between the coated steel and incompatible metals or materials.
- Cleaning with agents other than water, a soft brush or sponge, and mild detergent.
Workmanship
Who warrants the install.
When Silbery installs your roof, we cover the workmanship directly. When a third-party roofer installs our materials, the workmanship warranty is theirs and their details go on the issued warranty document.
